On Saturday, February 15, from 9 AM - 12 PM, Janus Deli Surfers Paradise is transforming your morning coffee ritual into a music-fueled experience, fusing specialty coffee, curated beats, and a social atmosphere designed for early risers who want more than just a latte.
Headlining the event is Gold Coast DJ and founder of Short Fuse Events, Bill Durry, known for pushing boundaries in the local music scene. With a genre-blending set of Disco House, 2-step, and Garage, expect an uplifting soundtrack to kickstart your day.
A fresh take on morning culture
The inspiration for AM Freq Culture came from Janus Deli owner Dean, who saw a growing trend worldwide—DJs performing in cafés, bringing music and connection into the daylight hours.
“I’ve noticed people shifting away from nightlife and finding more ways to connect in the morning. This concept is already gaining traction overseas, and with the Gold Coast’s love for coffee and social mornings, it felt like the perfect time to bring it here,” says Dean.
Dean first collaborated with Bill Durry at Janus Deli Molendinar’s first-anniversary event, and the synergy was undeniable. When the idea for a morning music culture came to life, Bill was the obvious choice.
For Bill, this event is uncharted territory—but that’s exactly what makes it exciting.
“This is going to be a time slot I haven’t really played before, so it’ll be interesting to explore different sounds and see what works,” he says.
Not just a morning coffee—a movement
AM Freq Culture isn’t just about music—it’s about building a community.
“The aim is to bring people together with two things we all love—music and coffee. The party doesn’t always have to be in the PM. We’re hoping people will come, enjoy the music, meet like-minded people, and make mornings more social and exciting.”

“We’ll see, I guess! But I believe there are enough music lovers and open-minded people to push it in the right direction.”
